Safer & Stronger Communities Update

10th September and 8th October 2009

Main Issues to Report:
The last two meetings of the Safer and Stronger Partnership and the sandwiched Wakefield Together Board have concentrated on items which are still in the formative stages of development and it is thus not possible at this time to give full details, other than to say that VOX is fully involved in those developmental processes.

The major areas of work are:
-
Service area delivery
-
Annual Report
-
Local Area Agreement
-
Comprehensive Area Assessment

Other work being undertaken at this time includes:
-
Comprehensive planning for the 'Duty to Involve'
-
A new engagement framework to help this process
-
A comprehensive Review of the Third Sector and an Implementation Plan
-
A new Communication Framework
-
A detailed mapping exercise of the Super Output Areas

In addition it is worth noting that there is some concern about changes that have been made to the membership of the Skills, Work and Enterprise Partnership. Representation has been made to the Executive Board on this issue.

Members may wish to note that "Not in my Neighbourhood Week" will run from the 2nd to 6th of November.

The main aims of the week are:
-
Increase awareness among the local community of what the police and local agencies do to tackle crime and anti social behaviour
-
Increase public confidence in the work both set of agencies do
-
Encourage the public to engage with them
